Amazing Trip to Peru

Machu Travels planned everything perfectly and made our 12 day trip to Peru unforgettable! Lizbeth and Flor helped us book our trip and were very accommodating to our requests. Every driver we had was safe and incredibly punctual. Sol is very responsive and was constantly checking in with us to make sure everything was going smoothly. The whole trip was seamlessly planned and tailor-made. Cecelia was a wonderful guide through Lima and made us feel very welcome. She took us to try some delicious causa and ceviche. Arequipa was a beautiful city that our guide, Jorge, highlighted very well. He took us to more traditional places and was patient with us while we were struggling with altitude sickness. Percy, a Puno local, really helped us understand the culture of the islanders on Lake Titicaca. Kevin was incredibly knowledgeable about Incan civilization and was the perfect tour guide through the Sacred Valley and Cusco.

Tips for your trip:
- Definitely book your flights early, especially if you plan on booking internal flights within Peru because they can get expensive as you get closer to your trip.
- Pack light layers and don’t overpack. You will probably be moving around a lot and having a lot of luggage can be a hassle.
- The food included during the tours are buffets. They are not the best, so plan accordingly.
- The thermal baths in Colca are a hidden gem, definitely worth it!
- The Nazca lines flight can be a little turbulent, not for the faint of heart.
- Be ready for long travel days and bumpy bus rides. However, the views of the Andes are spectacular and make the long journeys worth it.
- Don’t forget sunscreen, especially on Lake Titicaca. The sun can be brutal because of the proximity.
- The altitude is no joke. Make sure you are hydrating and resting as you need.
- For the Vistadome train up to Machu Picchu, I recommend requesting tickets on the left side of the train on the way up and traveling during daylight hours for the best views.
