The cuisine of Delfin II is a recognition of the great variety of Peruvian gastronomy, especially in those dishes prepared with Amazon ingredients.
Therefore, the dishes that you will be able to enjoy onboard Delfin II will be a party of unique flavors and colors. But don’t worry, you will also find international options. The chefs at Delfin II have many years of experience and cook with a true selection of the best ingredients from the jungle and the Peruvian Amazon.
About 20% of the world’s 1,500 bird species are found in Peru, with the Amazon hosting a large population of these species. For this reason, a mandatory component of Delfin II’s activities is birdwatching with a knowledgeable local guide who has years of experience identifying birds in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Since the birds are more active around dawn, the experience is naturally created during this period.
Perhaps the most amazing and enigmatic creature found in the Amazon River is the Pink River Dolphin. They are found in the northernmost Peruvian city of Iquitos, in the freshwater rivers of the Amazon region. They are gregarious, highly intelligent, and social with humans because they are related to common sea dolphins. If you’re lucky, they might swim amusingly beside to your raft or kayak. Of course, the cherry on top of any trip to the Amazon would be a picture of these creatures.
The Upper Amazon presents a special chance to engage in ethical fishing because of its lagoons and streams. Catch and release is the only method used by the Delfin cruises when fishing for species like Paiche, Peacock Bass, and Amazonian catfish.
River kayaking is a great way to explore the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve’s tranquil tributaries, streams, and lagoons independently without disturbing the indigenous wildlife. Even direct interaction with the local species is possible. The Native 16° River Kayaks are offered on all Delfin cruises and can accommodate up to two persons. They are designed specifically for silent river navigation.
Direct foot contact with the placid waters of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve river, rivers, and lagoons is ensured when paddleboarding. Without upsetting the area’s peace, glide slowly around the shoreline while exploring the magnificent local flora and fauna on a paddleboard. Naturally, the knowledgeable guides on the Delfin II trip will keep an eye on you at all times.
Because of the abundance and increased activity of wildlife during these hours, treks through the lush jungle normally take place very early in the morning or during dawn. The greatest of the deep jungle may also be seen on the walks in Fundo Casual. Additionally, a native assistant from the area will go with us on several trips so that we may get a closer look at various frogs, insects, and snakes, among other things, and gain a better understanding of them. The nicest part is that it’s a gentle pastime, and the boat will offer you rain ponchos and rubber boots for when the jungle rains unexpectedly.
A significant portion of the jungle’s fauna is active at night, even if it is most active in the early morning. Experienced guides provide night hikes on the Delfín II cruise, where guests can see nocturnal animals such as bats, frogs, and black caimans. This adventure will leave you with lasting memories of your time in the Peruvian Amazon, together with the mesmerizing sounds of the jungle and the starry sky.
In addition to feeding manatees and learning about these placid animals and their status as an endangered species, your tour includes a visit to the River Mammal Rescue and Rehabilitation Center (ACOBIA). The institution also takes care of other creatures that have been saved from capture and other dangerous situations. Monkey species, river otters, and other creatures are among them. A handful of devoted volunteers work hard throughout the year to ensure their efforts are continued. We cordially encourage you to make any kind of donation to this organization and learning facility.
